  • CHILD CENTRED APPROACH

  • We passionately believe that children learn best through a child initiated approach. At Monty’s we value each child as an individual and therefore learn best through their interests. This approach enables us to extend children’s learning and prepare them for the next stage in their learning through identify.

We believe this approach to learning stimulates children’s curiosity awe and wonder about the world around them. As Early Years Educators we understand the pivotal role we play in nurturing and fostering the children’s learning and development.

  • WOODLAND/MEADOW AREA

  • We find that our outside classroom gives children a deep connection with the natural environment, the elements and of the seasons. Outside they learn how to handle risks and how to use their initiative to problem solve, co- operating with their peers. The outside environment the children use their imaginations to build dens and often tell elaborate stories as part of their experiences. They explore the woodland together and grow in confidence and self-esteem.

  • GARDENS

  • We are very fortunate to have two spacious well equipped and secure garden spaces. Each of our four rooms look out onto and have free- flow access to either one of the garden spaces, allowing free flow between the indoor and outdoor space all year round. Our excited little ones love to explore the outside environment, whizzing around on bikes and trikes and climbing the rope wall on the climbing frame. Our garden has been designed to provide children within our care with rich experiences and an opportunity to develop an understanding about the world around them as well as other skills such as, independence, confidence and risk taking. Our nursery garden for the younger children is carpeted with artificial grass as it provides them with comfort and safety.

Tapestry

All children attending Monty’s Daycare have a personal on-line Learning Journey which records photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us.

We use an online system called Tapestry to record and store all observations and assessments relating to each child.  This is a safe and secure system and one that enables parents and carers to access their child’s learning journey at any time.  They can share it with their child, family and friends at home and also post any comments and photographs of their own, helping to create a fully holistic view of the children and strengthen the parent partnership.

The Tapestry system provides a quick and easy record that can be accessed by parents or relatives anywhere they have internet access and will therefore be more current that the paper based record.

“Children enjoy attending the setting. They take part enthusiastically in activities, explore the environment confidently and relate well to each other and to staff.”

“Children are encouraged to be respectful of each other’s differences. They learn about cultures and religions different to their own by assessing a wide range of resources which provide information in a child friendly manner. All children have opportunities to celebrate festivals and special days which are important to themselves and their family.”
